Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about creating beautiful wax seals with our tools.
What’s the difference between wax beads and sticks?↳
Beads offer precise dosing and faster melting in spoons or melters. Sticks suit traditional open flame methods but can drip more. Our bead blend is optimized for even pours and minimal soot.
Will my seal survive mailing?↳
Yes, if applied to a clean, dry surface and allowed to cool fully. For machines, place the seal on an outer envelope or use a protective wafer. Our wax has a slight flex to reduce chipping.
How do I clean the brass stamp face?↳
While still warm (not hot), wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives. For residue in fine lines, use a toothpick and isopropyl alcohol sparingly.
What temperature should I melt the wax at?↳
Aim for a pourable consistency without smoke. Our electric melter targets a stable low-heat range that prevents scorching and preserves color depth.
Can I make multi-color seals?↳
Yes. Layer small pours or swirl two colors gently before pressing. Work quickly to maintain edge definition. Practice on scrap first.
How do I center a seal accurately?↳
Lightly mark the spot, pour, then hover the stamp to align. Press straight down and hold for 6–8 seconds. Our balanced handles support vertical pressure.
Do you offer custom monograms or logos?↳
Yes. We can convert vector art into a deep-engraved brass face. Lead time depends on complexity. Start via the contact page and we’ll review your file.
What handle materials are available?↳
Walnut, ebonized maple, and carbon-aluminum. Each is weighted to reduce wrist strain and pairs with our M6 thread for quick changes.
How many beads do I need per seal?↳
Typically 3–4 beads for a 25–30 mm seal. Larger seals may require 5–6. Practice with your preferred viscosity and surface.
Is there a safe way to remove a seal?↳
If applied to a non-porous surface, warm the back slightly and lift carefully. On paper, removal may damage fibers—test on scrap first.
